Out-of-control HDR (How to Do it wRong)… Doesn’t this give you a headache to look at? We read somewhere that HDR is the “comic sans of photography”. It doesn’t have to be like this! And sadly, we see this all too often!

Gray interiors are popular for the moment, but come on. This photo won’t be fooling anyone! Not to mention, prospective buyers walking into this home will be shocked and confused when they see the actual wall color. Let’s change the pillow colors while we’re at it.

Pro tip: Make sure to move the fish bowl out of the way before taking a photo.
We love our GoPros and wide angle lenses, but we see a lot of photos on the MLS that haven’t been corrected for lens distortion! This is unacceptable and results in photos that look like they were taken through a fish bowl. Looking at this photo makes us feel like we’ve got fish bowl space helmets on our heads…
Living Room Fun House?
This living room is a beautiful, spacious room in its own right, but the perspective of this photo has been severely distorted. This photo makes the living room look like a fun house with crooked walls and floors. Extreme perspective distortion is never believable and will only cause confusion (and potential disappointment) when buyers visit a home in person. With flat photography, more than one shot is needed to show this room from different angles, and that’s OK! This beautiful room deserves to be shown in multiple shots rather than one, severely distorted one. (Of course, you could easily view the whole thing from just about any angle in one of our fully-immersive VIRTUAL TOURS!)
